Skin boils are characterized by formation of zits near or on the skin surface and when get matured discharge pus and blood. Boils are commonly caused by the staphylococcal bacteria. It then takes the shape of a swelling red lump at the center of which a yellowish white dot is formed. This white dot is nothing but the pus consisting of white blood cells, bacteria cells, elements of protein and some dead skin tissues. The pus being highly contagious in nature can cause development of more number of boils in the unaffected skin areas whenever it comes in contact with them while flowing out of the matured boil.

What Causes skin Boils Commonly?

As already mentioned there is a specific type of bacterium that is responsible for development of skin boils in most cases. The bacteria may enter inside the skin in the form of dirt or may thrive in colonies on the skin surface of the victim itself. Generally, a hair follicle or a wound inflicted on the skin is attacked by the bacteria resulting boils. Often an ingrown hair may lead to the development of boils. Prevalence of immune damaging diseases or poor health can also be the cause of recurrent incidence of boils. You may take a look at the following common causes of boils.

  • Ingrown hair causes inflammation of the skin when it grows and penetrates deep into the skin with its tip. Often the ingrown hair can be seen through the swelled surface. What causes skin boils called cystic acne – Cystic acne mainly occurs in the facial region and makes teenagers as their victims in most cases. Cystic acne is a deep rooted infection unlike superficial skin inflammations. What causes skin boils called Pilonidal Cyst – Pilonidal cysts occurs in the buttock regions of the body. They mainly form towards the tip of the crevices of the buttocks. They are the result of the infection occurring in the hair follicles. Individuals who are in the habit of sitting for long hours at a stretch are prone to this type of boils. At first the infection starts as a small reddened surface and gradually spreads developing as a pocket characterized by pus and multiple hair growth. With continued friction and exertion of pressure due to sitting the boils become severe in nature.

Boils can be successfully treated with proper medication. Home remedies like hot packs and medicated poultices are very useful for healing the infection.
