Carbuncles
Carbuncles are skin abscesses that appear as pus filled lumps. They are chronic forms of boils and require proper medication. Unlike superficial skin infections this type of boil is very deep rooted. In fact they are very painful when they are touched. There is no exact reason behind the popping up of boils. The boils can occur at any time, any age and at any part of the skin. Boils especially occur in the regions like face, nape, neck, armpits and buttocks. The areas of skin that are especially folded in form are the general victims of boils. The boils can be of various types depending upon their severity of their cases. Furuncles are the boils that have only one head and are caused due to the incidence of the bacteria named Staphylococcus aureus. The carbuncles are extension of furuncles. They are deep rooted and are mainly formed under the epidermal part of the skin. These severe types of skin boils cause intense pain and are often accompanied by fever. The boils when matured develop pus and eventually discharge it along with blood. When the entire pus flows out another boil develops on its place and the process continues. The following are some general symptoms of carbuncles. Carbuncles Symptoms
The skin regions that are mainly affected with carbuncles are the ones that are exposed to repeated friction. The boils are common among individual who suffer from poor health having a weak immune system. Patients of diabetes or any other immune degrading disease like HIV positive are the victims of recurrent boils. Boils are also common among persons who are carriers of the germ causing the development of boils. Some individuals might seem to be very healthy and are not detected to be having any immune damaging disorders may also be the victims of boils. The bacterium that is responsible for the development of the boils actually comes from the very skin surface of the individual itself. This trait of carrying the germs with oneself is genetically transferred from one family member to another. Treatment Carbuncles Large pus filled boils are troublesome for individuals who are affected by the bacterial invasion repeatedly. So, one should be very careful in treating the boil whenever he or she is infected with the skin disease. Treating mild form of boils is quite easier compared to chronic boils. For superficial infections all you are required to do is to keep yourself clean and germ free. The body has the ability to recover from such bacterial infections on its own. But in chronic cases the boils should be taken under immediate medical supervision. The physicians start diagnosing by recommending the patients to go for a bacterial culture. Based on the type of bacteria that is detected to be causing the occurrence of the boils, the doctor prescribes some effective antibiotics in measured amounts. If the antibiotics do not work, the doctor generally advises the patients to go for a surgical operation. The surgical operation consists of lancing the boil with medicated needles to let the pus out. After the pus drains out completely, the opening of the boil is then covered with antiseptics and antibacterial ointments in order to avoid further incidence of bacterial infection. There are several home remedial steps that you may take up in case you are suffering from carbuncles formation. It would be ideal for you to apply heat on the boils as it helps to draw the white blood cells towards the infection to fight against the infection causing germs. Place a warm moist cloth on the boil mouth. Keep changing the cloth several times through out the day. Onion and garlic paste is very effective in forming the head and ultimately drawing out the pus. You are recommended to take up home remedies that would be ideal for your skin in the healing process.
