The hair follicles are attached to a muscle below the skin. The gland which secretes the oil known as sebum is located above the muscles. When the path or a channel that starts from the mouth of the hair follicle to the gland gets blocked due to dirt, the bacteria starts developing blood cells. It develops slowly and later the center of the boil develops into a head. This boil head is filled with white blood cells and bacteria which are sent to fight against infection. This fluid is known as pus.
