There are various types of boils which have different forms and different nature of growth. But the common thing is that most of them discharge blood and pus after they reach their maturity level. Here is the description of symptoms of blood boils.

Blood boils are painful and they can cause high fever. These boils become large in size as they get matured. These boils can occur on all parts of the body. The most common areas where these boils are formed are the neck, face, underarms, back, groin and chest. The occurrence of these boils is higher on the area where there oil glands and sweat glands are more active. One of the causes of boils is that they develop due to the clogging of oil glands and sweat glands. Many times the hair follicles get infected due to bacteria which cause the formation of boils.

The hair follicles are attached to a muscle below the skin. The gland which secretes the oil known as sebum is located above the muscles. When the path or a channel that starts from the mouth of the hair follicle to the gland gets blocked due to dirt, the bacteria starts developing blood cells. Boils are reddish, large bumps which are caused due to infections on the skin area. Boils start developing as a minor gentle thing which later hardens and swells into a huge one. It develops slowly and later the center of the boil develops into a head. This boil head is filled with white blood cells and bacteria which are sent to fight against infection. This fluid is known as pus.

The boil is usually drained out by using lancing process. Apply hot packs to drain away the pus and let the boil heal completely. Here are some symptoms of blood boils.

Symptoms of Blood Boils

  • At the initial stage, the infected area becomes itchy and irritates whenever it is being touched. Slowly, the area turns red and swells, resulting into the formation of a huge blood boil.
  • After some days, the bacteria spread the infection. The boil grows larger in size of about five to ten centimeters in diameter. Few people have developed a huge size boil like golf ball or baseball. These large lumps of boils are formed due to accumulation of red blood cells and development of pus inside them.
  • You can also observe a thick blood line along with the crust like coating on the boils. The whitish pus can also be observed in the boil. This pus is nothing but the white blood cells, bacteria which causes the boil, some dead tissues and the protein elements. When the boil gets matured, the center of the boil turns into a head. Later, the boil discharges the pus. After discharge of pus, in many cases, blood too starts flowing out. This pus is harmful as it can cause infection to other unaffected skin.
  • Whenever the blood comes out of the boil, it is necessary to clean the blood and boil with the help of a cotton swab and an antibacterial lotion. Doctors might suggest you some antibiotic medicines that will help to fight against the infection. Antibiotics are only given when the infection is deep. It is suggested to use an antibacterial soap or a face wash to keep your skin away from more infections.
These are the blood boils symptoms which need to be treated immediately.
